Hailing from Dublin, mezzo-soprano Bríd currently studies with renowned soprano Orla Boylan. A passionate proponent of new composition, Bríd has been privileged to give world premières of opera, art song, and choral work in recent years, including "Paper Boat" by Elaine Agnew and poet Jessica Traynor, "A Belfast Opera" by Neil Martin and novelist Glenn Patterson, as well as Martin's song cycle "Songs after Rain" commissioned by King Charles III and performed in early Irish, Ulster Scots and English; "As Above So Below" by Amanda Feery for the First Fortnight Festival; "Beneath Iseult's Tower" a Contemporary Music Centre commission by Elis Czerniak, Sinéad Finegan and Norah Walsh; and a special performance of Raymond Deane's "5 Roses in 4 Parts" to mark the composer's 70th birthday.
Bríd has performed with Irish National Opera, Northern Irish Opera, Opera Collective Ireland, and the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival. She regularly performs as a concert soloist around Ireland and made her début with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra as their guest soloist in December 2016.
Bríd also works as a voice director and diction coach in the Irish language for classical singers, having devised an IPA for Irish as part of her postgraduate studies. She was an associate artist on the Arts Council-funded Tionscadal na nAmhrán Ealaíne Gaeilge 2019 - a commission of 50 new art songs set to Irish language texts from the last few hundred years, by 19 composers from all over the world, now hosted on the Contemporary Music Centre website (https://www.cmc.ie/AmhrainEalaineGhaeilge)
Bríd was a member of the ABL Aviation Opera Studio with Irish National Opera 2019/20, and an Opera Works artist with English National Opera 2016-2017. She holds a Masters in Music (Performance) from the Conservatory of Music & Drama, TU Dublin, as well as a Masters in Landscape Archaeology, and BA in Irish Folklore and Archaeology from University College Dublin. Bríd has been a member of the Irish language theatre group Aisteoirí Bulfin since she was a teenager, and works as a voice actor, performer, director and producer in the Irish language. She is also an arts facilitator and audio describer, committed to expanding access to the arts for all.
